Carhartt Lining Guide

Below is a listing of the different weighted linings of Carhartt apparel. Select the proper weight for your needs by reviewing the information and descriptions for the individual weights. The pictures correspond with the appropriate weight for an excellent representation.

Extreme Arctic Lining
Arctic-grade lining has a black nylon lining quilted to a thick layer of arctic weight polyester. This is Carhartt's warmest, thickest lining and a very popular grade of insulation in northern climates.

NOTE: For extreme's use the rule +4 - 2. This means, if you wear a 38" waist you would want the 42" waist for extreme series apparel. The -2 means if you have an inseam of 32", you would want the 30" inseam.

Midweight Quilted Lining
Quilt-lined Carhartt® workwear is a very popular grade. This lining is the familiar red or black nylon quilted to a mid-weight polyester insulation. Excellent for a wide range of temperatures.
Sherpa Lining
Sherpa lining is a thick and soft pile lining that is very warm, but yet lightweight. Made of 70% acrylic and 30% polyester.
Blanket Lining
Blanket lining is a medium-weight insulation. It is excellent for active work. Carhartt® blanket lining has the texture and insulating quality of a blanket.
Fleece Lining
Fleece lining is a a lightweight insulation that is an excellent choice for active work. Made of 100% polyester.
Flannel Lining
Flannel lining is a lightweight insulation thats adds the warms of flannel and is extremely comfortable for outdoor work or relaxing at home.
Thermal Lining
Thermal lining has about the same thickness as a flannel shirt. Garments with a thermal lining are excellent for three-season wear and layering with other garments.

Carhartt Outer Fabric Guide

Carhartt has a large variation of product shells that are durable yet comfortable. The images below and descriptions give a solid explanation of each fabric so you can select the fabric that's right for you.

Carhartt Cotton Canvas:

The Carhartt line of canvas garments are made of a lightweight 7.5 and 8.5-ounce, 100% cotton canvas. These pants and shorts are garment-washed with detergent and softeners to provide a "broken-in" feel from day one. They are extremely cool and comfortable, yet durable enough to resist abrasions, tear outs and cuts.

Carhartt Cotton Denim:
Carhartt's denim work wear sets the standard for quality and design. All of the denim garments are designed to be strong enough for the job site, yet stylish enough for weekend wear. The denim work wear is available in a variety of finished looks.
Carhartt Washed - This deep blue garment is washed with detergent and softeners for a "broken-in" feel and to achieve a slightly lighter color. It is available in 15-ounce, 100% cotton denim.
Carhartt Rigid Denim - This deep blue garment is unwashed and available in 10 and 11.75 and 15-ounce, 100% cotton denim.
Carhartt Stonewash - This garment is washed with detergent, softeners and bleach to achieve a light blue color and a "broken-in" feel. It is available in 15-ounce, 100% cotton denim.

Cotton duck is known for its quality, durability and comfort. This line of outerwear features three different finished looks: Firm duck, Sandstone duck and Washed duck.
Carhartt Firm Duck - This garment is unwashed.
Carhartt Sandstone Duck - This fabric is micro-sanded to achieve a brushed look and then garment-washed with detergent and softeners to achieve a "broken-in" feel.

Carhartt Extremes™:
Extremes garments have shells of 1000 Denier Cordura® Plus Nylon by DuPont. This makes them water repellent, wind resistant and extremely durable. Carhartt Extremes with Arctic Lining is the ultimate choice for the harshest of conditions, leaving the mesh-lined Extremes for moderately cold and wet conditions.
Carhartt Knits and Sweats:
This line of Carhartt clothing is made of high-quality, 100% cotton or cotton blends. On and off the job, these garments are designed to provide durability and freedom of movement as well as incredible fit and style. Perfect for layering!
